Apex Technology can announce successful data recovery from the G-Tech G-RAID and G-RAID2 External hard drives frequently used by Apple Mac owners. These drives usually incorporate a couple of SATA hard drives, with Firewire or USB connections.

According to DisplaySearch survey laptop notebook market share for Q4'06 was down for Apple, Dell, and Fujitsu/Fujitsu-Siemens. Sony, HP, Acer and Lenovo all easily surpassed the average Q/Q growth rate for the laptop notebook PC market. HP and Dell topped the laptop table of results.

DVD video copy protection AACS used on both HD-DVD and Blu-ray video titles has apparently been cracked allowing a certain number of titles to be copied. But the AACS Licensing Authority has said the breach is limited. The hacker was apparently upset and motivated to crack the DVD after the DVD video he had bought would not play on his monitor because it did not have the compliant connector demanded by the movie industry.

E-mails claiming to contain details of the storms that battered Europe contain a malicious virus, security firms warn. The e-mails with the subject line "230 dead as storm batters Europe", can leave computers vulnerable to attack by installing a backdoor program into the computer which is typically used to search for credit card details and email addresses.

JVC have introduced a full HD 1920x1080i Camcorder.According to JVC the HD Everio GZ-HD7, provides a new high definition camcorder that provides full HD video quality combined with the convenience of hard drive recording. Oh yes, its all well and good having cleared their desk and frog marched the employee off the site. However who told the Systems admin to clear the ex-employee's user account. Where is the final audit? Computer Associates have purchased technology for finding and purging unused user IDs on mainframe computers. CA bought software from InfoSec Inc. in early March that automatically finds and removes obsolete IDs and user access rights. Hacking using unused accounts is one of the oldest crimes, and proves time and again that often it is not the technology, but the human link in the chain that is the weakest point, while being the hardest to fix.
