iSCSI Terastation Data Recovery of VMFS - Equinox Technologies
10/03/2010, CEngland, iSCSI Buffalo Terastation Rack Mounted TS-RI4.0TGL/RR-EU serial 4584308490031. RAID 5 2x LUN's with NTFS and VMFS partitions. Drive 3 had an error, the unit tried to rebuild but got in a loop of rebuild. Buffalo support said take the drive our format it put back in and see if it would rebuild. Unfortunatly it then thought the drive was ok but showed an error on the Raid and wouldn’t offer a rebuild option.Just to say a big THANK YOU for all your help in getting the data back for me. I have (just!) now got all the VM’s transferred back over and up and running.

Failed hard drives in Raid 5 on Iomega Nas P435m - London. EC1M
28/12/2009, CLewis, Iomega Nas P435m 320GB Network Storage that freezes when booting up.we removed the 4 raid 5 drives and fitted them into a pc to see the raid status and the drives all say failed. Raid 5 consisted of 4 x 80gb Hitachi hdd. Thanks for having recovered my files.

Recover Shared folder from WD Netcenter - Erith, Kent
04/12/2009, AHigson, Recovery of missing Western Digital NetCenter 500Gb shared folder was missing - the configuration screen is still visible but the files were not. The reason for the failure seems to be that I inadvertently filled up the drive completely. I received the recovery drive in the post this morning and the files seem to be there. Thank you.

problems we have seen are not able to browse
data from network, error log shows active
directory not synced. After powering unit
off from within the console software, and
switched back on it does not appear on network.
Reset button allows unit to appear on network
but will not use preset IP, replies on DHCP
and cannot access console software, unless
unit is powered up without the drives installed.
Unit constantly comes up with a disk change
screen.
The best advice is simply to power it off
until you can contact someone who can recover
the unit. Do not mess around with the unit
as every action could further render data

Raid Migration to Raid-5 Raid-6 / Expanding
adding a Hard Drive
Typical data recovery would be from a
failed data migration eg from Mirror RAID-1
migrating to 3 or 4 disk Raid-5 or Raid-6.
While expanding capacity from the mirroring
disks the server may fail (usually around
the 50% mark), or may fail during the raid
rebuild. Rebuilding may additionally hang
for ages and show no further progress. Disk
may be shown as invalid or the raid may not
start or be shown as un-mounted. The volume
data appears to have gone. We recover data
from the failed raid hard drives. Sometimes
problems can happen when adding spare or additional
disks.

Sometimes called the toaster! We recover
from the following problems :- automatic
firmware upgrade, broken mirror array, broken
span array intermittent viewing of the files
and folders on the disk, viewing of only
one of the mirrored disks. Missing files
and folders. Losing data on an SC101 and
not being able to re-attach to a partition,
even though the name can be seen. No longer
access to spanned partition after increasing
its size. Single mirrored partition disappeared
no longer shown in SCM Storage Central Manager
Utility. Installing new firmware deletes
existing partitions. Device stopped communicating
with PC & utility reports two seperate
drives at 0 GB each - no drive letter. Zetera
Z-San Filesystem & Dataplow file recovery.
Following firmware upgrade the drive partition
has been known to disappear. The SC101 uses
a proprietary file-system and is not visible
from a standard Windows or Linux system.
Sometimes (when the SC101 is in Mirror drive
mode RAID1 one drive disappears from the
system for a while. A user upgrades the
firmware and then nothing is visiable on
the drive. Other problems we recover data
from are when the disk is reported as not
formatted, Corrupt Superblock and SFSExtract:
Unable to open volume segments.
