According to Sandisk, "all data held in the ReadyBoost cache is encrypted, so there is no security risk if the flash drive or card is lost or stolen. Linux is to get the Adobe ® Flash Player 9 for Linux, enabling Flash content and applications on Linux open source operating systems. SanDisk have created a 32GB 1.8"inch flash drive to replace Hard Disks in notebook / laptop computers. The drive stores information on flash memory chips rather than the magnetic platters that make up a traditional hard drive. This will reduce power consumption as they don't contain moving parts.

Toshiba unveils world's first 8GB SDHC (SD high-capacity) memory card. The new card meets the Class 4 standard meaning it has a data write speed of at least 4GB a second.

The cards, offered in 32-megabyte, 50-picture capacities, are aimed at consumers who are transitioning from film-based cameras to digital photography or who want the simplicity of storing their images without downloading to a computer or saving to an optical disc. The first cards shipped will be the popular SD and CompactFlash formats, followed later in the year by other cards and capacities, including Memory Stick PRO.
